No Excuse For Not Pursuing Your Dreams

Ever think you have something to share with the world and no one will listen?
I do.
Ever think you're alone in your thinking? I did. But I was wrong... and so are you if you did.
Because you're not.

Finding Your Gift
Many people search for their gifts, but never find them. (That's not true.)

Many people who don't really search for their gifts never find them. (There's the truth.)

You have to look. You have to dwell. There is no shortcut. There is no passing "GO" to collect $200.

There is no choice. You have to find your gift and use it... or you'll always be searching in life. Some people never know what they're even searching for, and that's sad.

3 Steps to Get Started
  1. Pray. Being a Christian, I can say that my God listens and talks back. He cares. I never push my beliefs on someone and I expect the same in return. The point of this is that you have been given a gift. How will you start to find it?
  2. Do Nothing. Spend some time doing nothing. It's important for our minds to rest every once in awhile. I did this for about 5 minutes the other day and it completely re-energized me to carry on. Try it.
  3. Start. Sorry. There's no other way to get going than to start. You could "begin." You could "go." But they all require action. Sorry, that's the just way this works.
You Really Do Have One (or some)
Yes, you really do have a purpose in life. Maybe you have no idea where to start.

No, you do. You know exactly where to start. Don't tell me you don't. Better yet, don't tell yourself you don't.

You have a passion. A dream. A goal.

Start small. It doesn't matter what you want to be, there is a community for it. There's a whole community for anything. Seriously. It's kind of ridiculous if you ask me... but there is.

So if you're into racing chickens... search for it. Or growing beans. Or stacking dominos. Go for it. You can at least start by connecting with someone who shares your interest.

Now You Have No Excuses
The Internet has taken away many things. It's given us a ton, but it's taken too. Most good things have pros and cons.

The one major thing it's taken away though... is excuses.

"I don't know where the nearest Lowe's is" isn't an excuse anymore. Use your phone. Jump on a computer. Ask the dude next to you at Starbucks.

"I don't know how many cups are in a gallon" doesn't work. Ask Siri. Google it. Excuses are no more.

If you're interested in finding your gift, using it and making a life you want to live, you're in luck. You've been blessed to live in a time in history where we can do anything we set our minds to.

That's scary for some... but incredibly awesome for those of us that start.

What's the one thing you'll commit to doing this week to start finding or following your dream?

10 Tips For Successful Public Speaking

10 TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC SPEAKING
Feeling some nervousness before giving a speech is natural and healthy. It shows you care about doing well. But, too much nervousness can be detrimental. Here’s how you can control your nervousness and make effective, memorable presentations:
1. Know the room. Be familiar with the place in which you will speak. Arrive early, walk around the speaking area and practice using the microphone and any visual aids.
2. Know the audience. Greet some of the audience as they arrive. It’s easier to speak to a group of friends than to a group of strangers.
3. Know your material. If you’re not familiar with your material or are uncomfortable with it, your nervousness will increase. Practice your speech and revise it if necessary.
4.Relax. Ease tension by doing exercises.
5. Visualize yourself giving your speech. Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear, and assured. When you visualize yourself as successful, you will be successful.
6. Realize that people want you to succeed. Audiences want you to be interesting, stimulating, informative and entertaining. They don’t want you to fail.
7. Don’t apologize. If you mention your nervousness or apologize for any problems you think you have with your speech, you may be calling the audience’s attention to something they hadn’t noticed. Keep silent.
8. Concentrate on the message — not the medium. Focus your attention away from your own anxieties, and outwardly toward your message and your audience. Your nervousness will dissipate.
9. Turn nervousness into positive energy. Harness your nervous energy and transform it into vitality and enthusiasm.
